Jo Ann Gordon,
What We Do
The Dixie Center is designed with maximum versatility to accommodate groups from 5 to 5,000. Featuring a 46,500 sq. ft. column free exhibit hall, 32,000 sq. ft. of flexible meeting space in 19 meeting rooms, 2 board rooms, state of the art auditorium and 25,000 sq. ft. of pre-function space. Our glass enclosed atrium style Garden Room located in the North Lobby, elegant rotunda, and spacious indoor lobby space are all ideal locations for receptions, banquets, networking, vendor displays or breaks.
It is the mission of the Dixie Center at St. George, a premier convention destination to positively impact the economy of the Washington County Area. To provide outstanding value, superior service, and a high quality experience for our customers, while maintaining integrity of purpose and budget.
Jo Ann was raised in St. George and graduated from Dixie High (when there was only Dixie High). She grew up (and lived) in a motel that her family owned and managed on St. George Boulevard. After high school graduation, she left St. George to attend school at Provo Tech (now Utah Valley University). She married a man from American Fork, Utah and they made their home in the Utah County area for 10 years. After “insisting” that her husband bring her home, they returned to St. George in 1987.
Jo Ann has been employed at the Dixie Center in various capacities for 24 years. Three of those years was managing and scheduling (along with the Dixie Center) the Legacy Park or better known as the Fair Grounds for first 3 years of its opening. Jo Ann has seen many changes and expansions at the Dixie Center from its original location on Dixie State University campus to the present location at South Convention Center Drive. Jo Ann has been in her present position as Marketing Director of the Dixie Center and Department Head for the County for eight years. While marketing the Dixie Center and arranging for the meeting needs of the many events at the Center, she has had the opportunity to meet many interesting people. As the Dixie Center has a 92% return rate, she has made lifelong friends with her clients; speaking with them often.
Along with her husband she has had the pleasure to raise four beautiful daughters. They still live around the area, making it possible to see them often and be part of their lives (and grandchildren’s lives). She and her married children all have four wheelers making family trips very fun. With a recently completed cabin in the mountains, summer is the best time of year. She loves to camp, ride four wheelers, sew, read, decorate her home and putter in her yard.
