What we do
The Washington County Noxious Weed Department is tasked to combat the Utah listed noxious weeds within county borders. They also assist the Washington County Roads Department in Right Of Way weed control along the county maintained roadways.
It is the landowners responsibility to control noxious weeds listed on the Utah noxious weed list on their properties.

There are several private weed control contractors in our area who may be enlisted by the property owners at their expense, in efforts to control both invasive and the listed noxious weeds. Please note, private contractors conduct the work at their own fee and time schedule for the property owner. It is advised to hire a reputable company who is licensed by the UDAF (Utah Department of Agriculture and Food) for weed abatement assistance. Also bio or other control measures may be available for certain weeds as a consideration. Please search the web, or other means of advertising for local companies.
If Washington County Noxious Weed Department is able to be contracted by a private property owner on a large property parcel in control of a Utah listed noxious weed issue, the fee schedule from the County is as follows:
- $40 an hour ($40 minimum, for the cost of equipment use and labor),
- The cost of the weed product used on the project.
County assistance will be dependent on the scope of the project, and manpower available by the county. The fee collected for any county work for private property owners will be remitted to the County Noxious Weed Department via the County Treasurer’s Office. Please Note, the county does not offer weed removal services and the control effort by the county will only be considered on large property parcels, typically 3 or more acres.
