The Victim Assistance Program is committed to helping individuals and families in our community who have been affected by crime by providing services and support throughout the Court process.

As a victim of crime, you have certain rights. One of those rights entitles you to be given notice of all important criminal justice hearings related to your case. To learn more about those hearings, click here. Please be aware that if you are needed as a witness in your case, you will be notified separately by subpoena.

Attending Court

Most hearings are open to the public. If you choose to attend court in person, please dress appropriately, and silence your phones. If you would like additional support attending court, please reach out to your victim advocate.

Safeguarded Information Act

To send you notices, we are asking for your contact information (phone, address, and e-mail address). This information is considered “safeguarded” meaning it will only be seen by court workers, the prosecutors, and victim witness program coordinators to send you notices and submit your victim impact statement to the court (Code of Judicial Administration rules 4-202.02(8) and 4-202.03(7)).

“Safeguarded” information includes date of birth, driver’s license number, social security number, account description and number, password, identification number, maiden name, mother’s maiden name, and similar personal identifying information. “Safeguarded” information also includes business and personal addresses, email addresses, telephone numbers, and similar information from which the person can be located or contacted. If you give us this information, this safeguarded information will not be given to the defendant, the defendant’s attorney, or talked about in open court.

Any safeguarded information you include on this page or any other page on the Victim Impact Statement, including any supporting documentation that you provide, will be redacted before it is provided to the defendant, defense attorney, or any other person or entity that is not allowed to have access to your information.
