Mandatory meeting and site inspection

Personally attend the County’s mandatory meeting and work site inspection held at 9:00 am Wednesday, August 23, 2017, in the Downstairs Conference Room at the Washington County Administration building before submitting your bid to ascertain the existence of any surface or subsurface conditions affecting the cost of the work.

Submiting bid and bid guarantee

Submit your bid on one copy only of the Proposal Form in a sealed envelope addressed to: Ron Whitehead, Director of Public Works, 111 East Tabernacle, St. George, Utah 84770 (Google Maps). Bids must be received prior to bid closing. The envelope must show the project title and the bidder’s name and address. Do not return plans or specifications, or enclose other documents in this bid envelope. Late bids will not be opened or considered. Bids must be on the provided Proposal Form.

Time of bid closure

Bidding will be closed promptly at 9:00 am on Tuesday, August 29, 2017. The person opening bids will not accept bids that have not been delivered by closing time. The time used shall be local standard time. The clock in the County Commission Office will be used.

2017 Tax Sale

NOTICE OF FINAL TAX SALE FOR WASHINGTON COUNTY

Notice is hereby given that on May 25, 2017, at 10:00 AM, I will offer for sale (unless redeemed prior to sale) at public auction, pursuant to the provisions of section 59-2-1351 Utah Code, the following described real estate situated in said county and now held by it under preliminary tax sale. This sale will be located in the Washington County Administration Building, 111 East Tabernacle, St George, Utah (Google Maps), and will be by open bidding wherein the full parcel will be sold to the highest dollar bidder. No bids will be accepted for an amount less than the outstanding balance as shown below which includes taxes, interest, penalty, and administrative costs. Any amount received in excess of the outstanding balance will be treated as surplus property and be paid to the State Treasurer. Successful bidders must tender full payment to the Washington County Treasurer by 4:00 pm of the business day immediately following the day of the tax sale. A partial payment of no less than 25% (non-refundable) of the bid amount must be paid to the Treasurer on the day of the sale. Payments must be cash, wire transfer, or certified funds made payable to the “Washington County Treasurer” in the exact amount of the bid. If a successful bidder fails to satisfy the requirements of this subsection, the Clerk/Auditor may contact the next highest bidder and offer the property to that bidder for the amount of the bidder’s highest bid. If this bidder declines to accept the offer, the Clerk/Auditor may then contact the next highest bidder.

The County Commission reserves the right to accept or reject any sale although it is their intent to accept all sales that meet the minimum bid requirement. The Washington County Commission will ratify this sale on June 6th, at its regular scheduled commission meeting.

National Service Recognition Day in Washington County

PROCLAMATION NO. 2017-4
APRIL 4, 2017

WHEREAS, service to others is a hallmark of the American character, and central to how we meet our challenges; and

WHEREAS, the nation’s counties are increasingly turning to service organized by AmeriCorps and Senior Corps (“national service”) and volunteerism as a cost-effective strategy to meet county needs; and

WHEREAS, AmeriCorps and Senior Corps participants address the most pressing challenges facing our communities, from educating students for the jobs of the 21st century and supporting veterans and military families to providing health services and helping communities recover from natural disasters; and

WHEREAS, national service expands economic opportunity by creating more sustainable, resilient communities and providing education, career skills, and leadership abilities for those who serve; and

WHEREAS, AmeriCorps and Senior Corps participants serve in more than 50,000 locations across the country, bolstering the civic, neighborhood, and faith-based organizations that are so vital to our economic and social well-being; and

WHEREAS, national service participants increase the impact of the organizations they serve, both through their direct service and by managing millions of additional volunteers; and

WHEREAS, national service represents a unique public-private partnership that invests in community solutions and leverages non-federal resources to strengthen community impact and increase the return on taxpayer dollars; and

WHEREAS, national service participants demonstrate commitment, dedication, and patriotism by making an intensive commitment to service, a commitment that remains with them in their future endeavors; and

WHEREAS, the Corporation for National and Community Service shares a priority with county officials nationwide to engage citizens, improve lives, and strengthen communities; and is joining with the National Association of Counties and county officials across the country for the County Recognition Day for National Service on April 4, 2017.

THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that THE COUNTY COMMISSION OF WASHINGTON COUNTY, UTAH, do hereby proclaim April 4, 2017, as National Service Recognition Day, and encourage residents to recognize the positive impact of national service in our county; to thank those who serve; and to find ways to give back to their communities.

Washington County Fair

New Building for Washington County Legacy Park & Extension Office

HURRICANE, Utah – Washington County began construction on a new building, March 29, 2017, at the Legacy Park complex located at 5500 West 700 South (Google Maps). The Building shall consist of 5,956 square feet of office area, and 22,165 square feet of exhibit hall and associated areas.

Once complete, the office portion of the building will be occupied by the USU Extension Office. The Exhibit Hall space will be a great community area where many activities will take place including formal and recreational events. The air conditioned Exhibit Hall will especially be utilized each year during the Washington County Fair providing additional bathrooms and relief from the sun.

MRW Design was the architect and Watts Construction Inc., was awarded the contract after coming in as the lowest bidder. The metal building package was purchased from CO Building Systems, Inc., located in Ephriam, UT. CO Buildings will provide fabrication of the metal building.

The projected completion date of the new Legacy Park building is August 4, 2017.
